Report on the days events by John H.

The visit to LegoLand was saved for what amounted to our second group of the summer. Transport was in two vehicles, and though we arrived within minutes of each other, the enormous crowds meant we did not meet up for some hours. Perhaps this was because we took the 'train' to as close to the roller coaster as we could get, and then worked our way back. With hindsight this trip is best done during term time, although the queues for the rides were accepted by the boys, the crowds were enormous.

It was a very hot day, and despite frequent stops for ice cream and liquids, the children and the old man (and Karen) were worn out by the time we had negotiated everything. The numerous Lego figures, like Mr. President, the dinosaur and the American tourist with camera, various birds etc. were all admired. But most fantastic of all was the model village. Given the right camera angles it could be mistaken for the real thing.

The castle was a five star building and the built in ride was the best. The roller coaster type rides were the greatest and repeat rides were the order of the day. The driving course was considered very good as you can see from the concentration on Sasha's face as he tried to overtake someone out of picture, and the big 'this is fun' grin on Ilia's face. (our kids in No 27 and 33)

The story behind the 'show' was not well understood, but the kids had a good laugh at the antics of the performers whilst we had a sit down and ate lunch.

All the children were tired by departure time, as their faces show in the pic with the 'camera man', but you would not believe that after a restful drive home, they wanted to go swimming.
